New Spyshots Of 5.0 Jaguar XKR
Some nice new pictures of the heavily reported 5.0 litre Jaguar XKR due to be launched next year have been floated around the interweb today, they're on several sites but the one with the best article has to be CAR Magazine (hence their watermark all over the images).
The article goes on to say that the XK & XKR will have the 4.2 litre models removed and the new 5.0 litre versions in production around March '09, both supercharged an naturally aspirated, so the discounts on the current car should be massive at your local Jaguar dealer!
The article also predicts the long awaited diesel XK's launch around the same time, being an uprated version of the excellent 2.7 twin turbo motor currently on sale, suggesting horsepower somewhere around the 250 mark with a big heap of midrange torque too, and if the BMW 635D sales in Europe are anything to go by, then it will be a huge hit at a time when the factory needs a boost to production.
The Article also correctly suggests the new 5.0 supercharged litre engine will also make its way to the Jaguar XF in the form of the XFR at some point in 2009, and that some of the clever details from the XF will find their way to the new XKR such as the rotary gear selector that rises out of the transmission tunnel, and the pulsing starter button.
Personally I can't wait to try out this beast of a car, even if it isn't exactly the most prudent time to be launching such a big engine - never mind!
