Jaguar XE Details

Jaguar XE Auto Express
Jaguar has a new sports car in development, that is being referred to as the XE. Reports are sketchy, with the company publicly saying it would like to build a sports car but denying this model exists, to keep the focus on the current range.

Jaguar's MD Mike O'Driscoll announced that he would love to build a 2 seat sports car at the Detroit motor show, and shortly before that company owner Ratan Tata said he would like to see one in the line up, so its a safe bet it will happen.

What hasn't been made clear is if this would be a Porsche Boxter rival in the mould of the aborted F-Type, a direct replacement for the Jaguar XK and Jaguar XKR - which is very unlikely, or an out and out Ferrari beater to be a new flagship for the marque.

Reports on the interweb are putting forwards 2 possibilities, Autocar is suggesting that the car is front engined, and that chassis development work is being done by outsourcing to Lotus, whereas Auto Express is saying the ar will be mid engined, like an Audi R8 or Ferrari F430. Both have given images as to what the feel the car may look like - Autocars image is below, and Auto express is at the top of the page - they are both good looking but entirely different and are both speculation at this stage.

New Jaguar XKR !!!

New Jaguar XKR 2010

After months of speculation, we finally have launched the new 2010 Jaguar XKR! As widely predicted it has an all new 5.0 litre supercharged engine with a supercar level 510 horsepower, up from 420 in the 4.2 litre version. A normally aspirated 5.0 with 385 horsepower is also available in the lower spec Jaguar XK.

The eagle eyed among you will have also spotted some exterior changes with an all new front bumper that gets rid of the fog lights and replaces them with an aggressive looking aluminium finish cooling vent - close up below:

Other exterior visual changes are the introduction of new LED rear lights, and a set of 20" wheels that you can see here:

The interior also sees some improvements with some new finished to the wood and aluminium veneers, and the 'Jaguar Drive Selector' that has been so well received from the Jaguar XF, which you can see below:

Remarkably both the new engines have an increase in fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions due to advanced technology in the form of direct injection. UK Prices for the XKR are £72,400 for the coupe and £78,400 for the convertible, so £2500 for that massive increase in power - well worth it I'm sure you'll agree. Now head over to your nearest Jaguar dealer and take this beauty for a spin - that's what we're planning on doing - we can't wait!
